On a recent business trip to Comcast in Colorado I was invited to see the WWE wrestling (Monday night Raw for anyone familiar) from the relative safety of the corporate box in the Pepsi Center. I have to say I was not really looking forward to it given that I hate wrestling but it turned out to be a lot of fun and the company was definitly in high spirits!
I took some pics of the “Garden of the Gods” down in Colorado Springs which you can find here but there was only one picture I really wanted
Give him the chair!!!!

Siting on the train (10.30pm delayed 4hrs) I’m pondering the year to date. It seems to have gone from busy to hectic and back again more times than I can remember. My carbon footprint is of the size 12 order given all the travel at work (amsterdam, dubai, helsinki, bangalore, stockholm, denver, paris) and so much seems to have happened (abbeys first birthday, sare and stew getting married, all the stag fun beforehand, chris’s wedding recently and much more I have probably forgotten), but the most groundbreaking exciting and if I’m honest scary thing was abbeys decision to start walking at last. It was nice that my mum and dad were here to see her first steps but sad that I was in denver at the time
Looking back on the year to date in June may seem premature, but if the end of the year is as busy as the beginning then I for one will be glad of opportunities like train delays to take stock!

Ever since building my new PC I have been cursing myself for having used XP64 as the operating system, the main reason I chose it was cost and suport for more than 4GB of ram but I have been plagued with software that won’t work or wont even install on XP64 that I used frequently on my old machine.
I got around my printer driver issues in a hideous way by running an XP32 bit virtual machine and bridging the USB printer into that so I don’t need to buy a new printer, but BBC iPlayer and 4oD on the other hand would not even let me attempt to install on XP64 and due to graphics driver issues it was not possible to use a VM.
After a lot of searching I found someone talking about a program called OCRA which is a Microsoft msi (installer) editor, it allows you to open the installation file for the app you want to load and gives you the ability modify its database. You can find the checks it carries out for operating system support pretty easily and then its a tweak or two to get them to ignore the fact youre runing XP64. Obviously this won’t work for other non Microsoft OS’s like Mac or Linux but for me it is a relief to finally be able to run all those apps I have been without for months.
Now I’m off to watch the back catalogue of Gordon Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares on 4oD

Green Hat have announced formally today that the aquisition of Solstice Software has been finalised along with some detail about what the aquisition will mean to employees of both companies. The US based Solstice office should now take over the lions share of sales and presales work in North America meaning less long haul travel for me and the rest of the UK presales team.

Well not exactly, but I did recently have some of my pics used in a magazine advert for the Swan Inn
I had not been able to find a copy of the March issue of Essex Life magazine (even when looking in the middle of March; I guess the circulation isn’t very large) but I stumbled across a copy in the doctors waiting room the other day and they kindly let me buy it for a small donation to the Rupert Bear?? charity.

When I read the headline quote on the website for Avalanche Adventure I thought I had found the perfect venue for an adrenaline fuelled stag party
Feeling adventurous?…then try some of our activities.
Little did we know how adventurous things would get…

Unfortunately for the six of us in the Landrover when it rolled off the edge of the bank, padding was a luxury too far and there were no seatbelts. Fortunately the injuries are limited, the instructor walked out with a broken rib, dislocated shoulder and four stitches in his neck, Stew has a damaged hand and I embarrasingly have been unable to sit or walk comfortably since due to a fractured coccyx.

This is one stag weekend that will not be forgotten.

We had a lovely week in Dubai staying with Claire and Benn in their appartment on Palm Jumeriah. Abbey hated the flight out there (7hrs) but was better on the way home. We took Sonia’s camera as there was no room for mine, the spare luggage room was packed with toys and food for flabby!
Here are some of the pics we took

Im off to India again in a few weeks, this time to Bangalore to train a 25 strong troop of Wipro guys.
Im a bit in two minds as to whether I think I will enjoy the work as much as Hyderabad but I figure its all good experience and if nothing else I should get one of the elusive “good curries” I always rant about but never find.
If anyone wants anything Indian bringing back (asside from Malaria) then let me know.
